Catching Up

Kira Lynn Harris, 96 Degrees in the Shade, 2001. Mylar, light, brick, dirt. Site-specific installation at Smack Mellon Studios.

Where have I been, you ask? Meeting deadlines. I've just finished writing the catalog essay for Kira Lynn Harris's solo show at CUE Art Foundation. The exhibition, curated by Senga Nengudi, will be on view April 9 through May 23, 2009. Don't miss it!

When faced with a big writing project, I try to keep a jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams (DCD) on hand. The smooth blend of peanut butter and rich dark chocolate helps to calm my anxiety, and it's crazy good. I prefer to eat DCD on whole wheat toast, blended into a smoothie, or simply by the spoonful. The product can also be used to make Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate.

DCD is made by the Manhattan-based company, Peanut Butter & Co. Their latest product, The Heat Is On, combines all-natural peanut butter, chili powder, cayenne and crushed red peppers. PB & Co. recommends it on crackers and celery sticks; in satay and barbecue sauces; and as a substitute for curry paste in this recipe for Vegetarian Curry.

The first thing I consumed after the detox was peanut butter spread on apple. The heat is on sounds orgasmic. A must try.
