En Foco/In Focus: Selected Works from the Permanent Collection features over 50 prints from En Foco's notable collection of photographs by artists of primarily African, Asian, Latino, Native American and Pacific Islander heritage. Guest curated by Elizabeth Ferrer, the exhibition has three primary areas of focus: the earliest works in the collection, dating back to the 1970s, reflect the documentary style of photographic work made around the height of the Civil Rights era. Later photographs speak to the identity politics and multicultural discourse that marked the 1990s. And young artists newly represented in En Foco's collection, such as Hank Willis Thomas and Groana Melendez, give viewers a taste of current ideas and trends. En Foco/In Focus is on view at Light Work in Syracuse through January 31. Visit En Foco's Facebook page to find out about upcoming events in and around New York City.
